Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Leamington Flyers defeated the London Nationals in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO). The two teams needed six turns to complete the shootout.Leamington overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Flyers fell behind 2-0 after a goal by London's Troy Taylor at 7:13 in the second period. Leamington tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Trevor Dulong at 18:35 in the third period. Mitchell Amante was all over the ice for the Flyers, as he registered two goals in the win. Amante's tallies came at 15:21 into the second period to make the score 2-1 London and 6:06 into the third to make the score 2-2. Leamington kept the Nationals' goalie busy throughout the game, and Justin Tugwell made 34 saves on 38 shots. Leamington also got a goal from Chris Scott as well. More assists for Leamington came via Kyle Quick, who had two and Eric Henderson, Matthew Opblinger, and Alex Friesen, who contributed one each. London was helped by Tanner Lafrance, who finished with one goal. Lafrance scored 8:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 London. Michael Woolley provided the assist. London also got points from Taylor, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, London received assists from Derek Todosichuk, who had two and Tanner Ferreira and Drew Worrad, who each chipped in one. Trevor Wheaton recorded 24 saves for the Flyers. Leamington incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Nationals incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
