Sydney Sirens vanquishes Brisbane Goannas in shootout, 4-3 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Sydney Sirens defeated Brisbane Goannas in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured 16 attempts between both teams. Brisbane Goannas' shootout goal was scored by Veronica Watson. In addition to the clincher, Sydney Sirens got a shootout goal from Brittany McCabe.

Sydney Sirens overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Sydney Sirens fell behind 3-1 after a goal by Brisbane Goannas' Watson at 13:18 in the second period. Sydney Sirens tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Kath McOnie at 14:18 in the third period.

Sharna Godfrey had a great game for Sydney Sirens, netting two goals. Godfrey found the back of the net 13:51 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 16:12 into the second to make the score 3-2 Brisbane Goannas.

Sydney Sirens' offense was clicking better than usual and put 40 shots on goal during the game, better than the 2.8 shots per game it averages.

More assists for Sydney Sirens came via Kaylee White and McCabe, who each chipped in one.

By firing 19 shots on goal, Brisbane Goannas exceeded the 1.7 shot it averages per game this year.

Brisbane Goannas was helped by Rosanna Routledge, who had one goal. Routledge scored short handed 3:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brisbane Goannas. Brisbane Goannas was on a disadvantage when Peta Lehoczky went off the ice for hooking. Brisbane Goannas additionally got points from Watson, who also registered one goal and one assist and Emma Gray, who also registered one goal and one assist.

Sera Dogramaci recorded 16 saves for Sydney Sirens. Sydney Sirens incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Brisbane Goannas' Keesha Atkins stopped 36 shots out of the 39 that she faced. Brisbane Goannas incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
