The two teams needed six turns to complete the shootout.Melbourne Ice came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Melbourne Ice trailed 3-0 after a goal by Sydney Sirens' Sharna Godfrey at 2:51 in the second period. Melbourne Ice knotted things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Alivia Del Basso at 15:17 in the second period. Kayla Kaluzny had two goals and one assist to lead Melbourne Ice. Kaluzny scored the first of her two goals on the power play at 3:43 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Sydney Sirens. Melbourne Ice had taken the advantage when Sydney Sirens' Stephanie Cochrane got sent off for cross checking. Del Basso assisted on the tally. Kaluzny's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Sydney Sirens with 7:42 left in the second period. Shona Green picked up the assist. The 43 shots that Melbourne Ice put on net surpassed Melbourne Ice's average of 3.1 shots per game this season. Melbourne Ice was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 26 penalty minutes. Melbourne Ice also got points from Del Basso, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Sydney Sirens put 19 shots on net during the contest, more than the 3.1 it averages per game. Sydney Sirens could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. Sydney Sirens was helped by Sandra Giustiniani, who racked up one goal.
