The M1 Niagara University Purple Eagles had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the M1 John Carroll University Blue Streaks.

M1 Niagara University was led by goalie Mike Parda, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. Parda certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.43 entering the contest.

The Purple Eagles were paced by Andrew Mitch, who had one goal. Mitch scored 7:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 M1 Niagara University. Kody Helbig assisted on the tally.

M1 Niagara University's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three M1 John Carroll University power plays. With 40 shots on target during the contest, the Purple Eagles exceeded the 1.5 shot they average per game this year.

M1 Niagara University also got points from Austin Wharry, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for M1 Niagara University included Tyler Stockwell, Josh Pietrantonio, and Jake Ryan, who scored one goal each. More assists for M1 Niagara University came via Michael Skopinski, Brad Beran, Jacob Ledyard, Patrick Gregory, Jeffrey Monfils, Joey Sheena, and Dalton Bew, who contributed one each.

M1 John Carroll University was held below its usual level of production. The Blue Streaks average 3.1 goals per game. By firing 27 shots on goal, M1 John Carroll University exceeded the 3.4 shots it averages per game this year.

M1 Niagara University totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For the Purple Eagles, Patrick Ryan was ejected from the game. The Blue Streaks' starting goalie, Matthew Russell, made 22 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Sean Shriner, who stopped 13 shots.
