Casper Coyotes vanquishes Cheyenne Stampede in shootout, 3-2 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Casper Coyotes defeated Cheyenne Stampede in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams.

Casper Coyotes put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Cheyenne Stampede to score on any of its five power plays. Casper Coyotes kept Cheyenne Stampede's goalie busy throughout the game, and Corey Foster made 41 saves on 44 shots.

Casper Coyotes was helped by Erik Stenbacka, who finished with one goal and one assist. Stenbacka scored 3:43 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Jordan Klimovsky assisted on the tally. Casper Coyotes additionally got points from Klimovsky, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Casper Coyotes received assists from Troy Saunders and Viktor Thim, who contributed one each.

Casper Coyotes was unable to stop Cheyenne Stampede from sending pucks towards the net, and Cheyenne Stampede eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Cheyenne Stampede was helped by David Raus, who registered one goal. Raus scored short handed 15:01 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Cheyenne Stampede played down a man on Alex Groner's tripping. Heath Lantz also scored for Cheyenne Stampede. More assists for Cheyenne Stampede came via Cory Hurtubise and Max Legere, who each chipped in one.

Casper Coyotes' Rikard Landfeldt stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Casper Coyotes totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Cheyenne Stampede ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major.
