Medeiros nets hat trick, leads Valencia Flyers to 5-1 win over San Diego

San Diego could not stop Valencia Flyers' Kory Medeiros, who tallied a hat trick in a 5-1 win.

Medeiros' first goal came 3:31 into the first period. He then added goals at 9:15 into the first and at 13:55 into the first.

Valencia Flyers was led by goalie Ole Nilsen, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. Nilsen managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.76 prior to the game.

Valencia Flyers' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Valencia Flyers surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. Valencia Flyers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. San Diego was unable to stop Valencia Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Valencia Flyers eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Valencia Flyers also got points from Adam Papayoanou, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Valencia Flyers also got a goal from Jakob Kranabetter as well. In addition, Valencia Flyers received assists from Niklas Giers, who had two and Ray Wilson, Wil Barnett, and Chase Thesman, who contributed one each.

San Diego's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Valencia Flyers power plays. San Diego could not produce up to its normal offensive output. San Diego puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game.

San Diego was led by Toni Haikarainen, who scored the team's only goal. Haikarainen scored 11:31 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Valencia Flyers. Ustin Molochkov assisted on the tally.

For Valencia Flyers, Nicholas Wilton was ejected from the game. San Diego's Jokaim Jutras stopped 33 shots out of the 38 that he faced. San Diego incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
