Colorado RoughRiders rips Cheyenne Stampede, 8-2

Colorado RoughRiders had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-2 win over Cheyenne Stampede.

Colorado RoughRiders got the win thanks to a great game by Aidan Doughty, who had one goal and two assists. Doughty scored 36 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Colorado RoughRiders. Thayne Trumbull assisted on the tally.

Colorado RoughRiders forced Cheyenne Stampede's goalies to work without much rest, firing 34 shots and forcing 26 saves. Corey Foster made 22 stops and Egor Riabchikov made four. Colorado RoughRiders put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Cheyenne Stampede to score on any of its four power plays. Colorado RoughRiders found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Colorado RoughRiders has scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign.

Colorado RoughRiders also got points from Devon Pilkington, who also grabbed one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Cody Oakes, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Tanner West, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Trumbull, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Casey Riccatone, who also had one goal and one assist. Colorado RoughRiders also had goals scored by Hunter Behrens and Martin Bakula, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Colorado RoughRiders were Stephen Dora, who had one and Gian Cervo, who had two.

Cheyenne Stampede was led by Garrett Hughes, who racked up two goals. Hughes scored the first of his two goals at 13:43 into the first period to make the score 4-1 Colorado RoughRiders. Alex Groner provided the assist. Hughes' next tally made the score 4-2 Colorado RoughRiders with 13:26 left in the second period. Cody Key picked up the assist.

Kirill Pustovalov recorded 20 saves for Colorado RoughRiders. Colorado RoughRiders incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors and had no power play opportunities.
