Butte Cobras rides Rustgi to victory over Whitefish Wolverines, 2-1

Butte Cobras relied on the sparkling performance of Tage Rustgi in net to grab a 2-1 win against Whitefish Wolverines.

Butte Cobras' penalty kill excelled, as Butte Cobras gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

Butte Cobras was led by Ethan Cooney, who registered one goal. Cooney scored 13:58 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Butte Cobras. Kevin Philbin assisted on the tally.

Whitefish Wolverines was unable to stop Butte Cobras from sending pucks towards the net, and Butte Cobras eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Butte Cobras could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Bogdan Shleev also scored for Butte Cobras. Other players who recorded assists for Butte Cobras were PJ Silveria, Chadd Lounder, and Morgan Reiner, who each chipped in one.

Whitefish Wolverines forced Butte Cobras goalie Rustgi to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Whitefish Wolverines was led by Danny Roe, who scored the team's only goal. Roe scored on the power play 13:51 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Whitefish Wolverines. Whitefish Wolverines earned a power play opportunity when Zach Steuck was put in the box for interference. Aleksei Garin provided the assist.

Rustgi recorded 35 saves for Butte Cobras. Butte Cobras registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Brendan Duff made 29 saves for Whitefish Wolverines on 31 shots. Whitefish Wolverines incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
