M1 Lebanon Valley College uses big second period to beat M1 Ithaca College, 13-0

The M1 Lebanon Valley College Flying Dutchmen scored seven goals in the second period to pull away from the M1 Ithaca College Bombers and clinch a 13-0 win.

M1 Lebanon Valley College got the win thanks to a great game by Paul Hefferin, who had one goal and three assists. Hefferin scored 8:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 M1 Lebanon Valley College. Gaige Vandezande provided the assist.

The Flying Dutchmen's goal total was higher than their season average. M1 Lebanon Valley College has scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of the Flying Dutchmen were also effective in M1 Ithaca College's zone, and came away with five goals. M1 Lebanon Valley College put 60 shots on net during the contest, more than the 18.7 it averages per game.

M1 Lebanon Valley College also got points from Matthew Reno, who also registered one goal and two assists, Joey Labonte, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Alexander Toppin, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Brennan Thompson, who also had two goals and one assist, Justin Boyd, who also registered one goal and one assist, Andy Thurby, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Russ Armbruster, who also racked up two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. M1 Lebanon Valley College also had goals scored by Adam Thomas, Louie Berube, and Ryan Maraldo, who scored one goal each. In addition, M1 Lebanon Valley College received assists from Nate Kohlenhoefer, who had one, Danny Willey, who had three, and Zachary McKown, Jacob Thomas, and Cody Pessig, who each chipped in two.

The Bombers allowed the opposing goalie to relax, racking up only five shots on goal to force five saves. Still, the total topped M1 Ithaca College's average of 0.3 per game this year.

The Bombers were led by Nick Mecca, who took three shots.

Matthew Healy recorded five saves for the Flying Dutchmen. M1 Lebanon Valley College incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities. M1 Ithaca College's starting goalie, Sean Johnson-Sally, made 34 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Jonathan Lipshutz, who stopped 13 shots. The Bombers avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of two power plays.
