M1 Stony Brook University uses big second period to beat M1 Lebanon Valley College, 8-0

The M1 Lebanon Valley College Flying Dutchmen allowed the M1 Stony Brook University Seawolves to net five goals during the second period and fell, 8-0.

Nick Barbera had two goals and three assists to lead M1 Stony Brook University. Barbera scored the first of his two goals at 9:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 M1 Stony Brook University. Ryan Cotcamp assisted on the tally. Barbera's next tally made the score 3-0 M1 Stony Brook University with 10:20 left in the second period. The Seawolves had gained a power play chance when Ryan Maraldo was whistled for slashing. Vincent Lopes provided the assist.

M1 Stony Brook University excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. With 23 shots on target during the contest, the Seawolves exceeded the 2.1 shots they average per game this year.

M1 Stony Brook University also got points from Cotcamp, who also registered three goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Tyler Underhill also scored for M1 Stony Brook University. More assists for M1 Stony Brook University came via Matt Miano, Justin Lazalde, JT Hall, Sam Brewster, and Matthew Gervasi, who each chipped in one.

M1 Lebanon Valley College was held below its usual level of production. The Flying Dutchmen average 3.6 goals per game. The 24 shots that M1 Lebanon Valley College put on net surpassed the Flying Dutchmen's average of 14.3 shots per game this season. Penalties took their toll on M1 Lebanon Valley College, as its penalty kill unit let in three power play goals.

The Flying Dutchmen were led by Andy Thurby, who took four shots.

Derek Willms recorded 24 saves for M1 Stony Brook University. The Seawolves incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. M1 Lebanon Valley College's Matthew Healy stopped 15 shots out of the 20 that he faced. The Flying Dutchmen incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
