M1 Pittsburgh University of beats M1 Villanova University 2-1 after comeback scare

The M1 Villanova University Wildcats tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the M1 Pittsburgh University of Panthers held on for a 2-1 victory.

M1 Pittsburgh University of took a 2-0 lead during the third period, only to have M1 Villanova University storm back on a Jack Skaggs goal 19:43 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Connor Cash had a great game for the Panthers, netting two goals.

M1 Pittsburgh University of was led by goalie Ben Cirba, who finished with 36 saves while allowing one goal. Cirba managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.51 prior to the game.

The Panthers stifled the Wildcats' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. With 28 shots on target during the contest, M1 Pittsburgh University of exceeded the 1.3 shot it averages per game this year.

More assists for M1 Pittsburgh University of came via Joseph Ridolfi, who had one.

M1 Villanova University's offense operated below its season average. The Wildcats average 4.1 goals per game. The Panthers were unable to stop M1 Villanova University from sending pucks towards the net, and the Wildcats eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

In addition, M1 Villanova University received assists from Sean Mckernan and Troy Donahue, who contributed one each.

M1 Pittsburgh University of totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For the Panthers, J.D. Oddi was ejected from the game. Nicholas Desimone rejected 26 shots on goal for M1 Villanova University. The Wildcats incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
