M1 Villanova University's Mckernan deadly on offense in 6-3 win against M2 Army

The M1 Villanova University Wildcats relied on the scoring touch of Sean Mckernan, who netted two goals, to beat M2 Army, 6-3.

Mckernan scored on the power play at 10:29 into the first period to make the score 2-1 M1 Villanova University and again while 18:29 into the first to make the score 3-1 M1 Villanova University.

M1 Villanova University put 53 shots on net during the contest, more than the 0.8 it averages per game.

M1 Villanova University also got points from James Kirchgraber, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for M1 Villanova University included Nicholas Schultz, Jack Skaggs, and Doug Geertz, who scored one goal each. In addition, M1 Villanova University received assists from Daniel Jigarjian, who had three and John Gyurina, Carl Postighone, and Harry Moore, who each chipped in one.

M2 Army forced the Wildcats goalie Michael Harper to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

M2 Army was helped by Grant Oncay, who registered one goal. Oncay scored 8:28 into the second period to make the score 3-2 M1 Villanova University. Andrew Lysakowski assisted on the tally. M2 Army also had goals scored by Nick Pappas and Cory Miller, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for M2 Army were Michael St Denis, Logan Schmidt, and Matthew Riehl, who contributed one each.

M1 Villanova University's Harper stopped 36 shots out of the 39 that he faced. The Wildcats avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored one goal off of zero power plays. Robert Fenton recorded 47 saves for M2 Army. M2 Army ended with no penalties and went 0-for-0 on the power play.
