Zimmer's hat trick boosts Butte Cobras over Whitefish Wolverines, 7-5

Whitefish Wolverines could not stop Butte Cobras' Anton Zimmer, who tallied a hat trick in a 7-5 win.

Zimmer notched his first tally 14:46 into the second period. He then added goals at 15:30 into the second and at 16:06 into the second.

Butte Cobras racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 23.0 minutes per game Butte Cobras had been spending in the box. Butte Cobras stifled Whitefish Wolverines' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Butte Cobras kept Whitefish Wolverines' goalie busy throughout the game, and Joakim Hidestrand made 34 saves on 41 shots. Butte Cobras found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Butte Cobras averages 3.4 goals per game.

Butte Cobras also got points from Jacob Rudloff, who also had one goal and one assist. Butte Cobras also got a goal from PJ Silveria as well. More assists for Butte Cobras came via James Kilgore, Josh Smith, Nikita Polishchuk, Logan Chavez, and Reed Kinsey, who each chipped in one and Clinton Hildebrand, Bogdan Shleev, and Zach Steuck, who contributed two each.

Whitefish Wolverines forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 14 minors and one major for 73 minutes in penalty time. Whitefish Wolverines surpassed its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. Whitefish Wolverines forced Butte Cobras goalie Kinsey to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Whitefish Wolverines managed to hold Butte Cobras' power play largely in check, allowing only one goal while on the disadvantage. Whitefish Wolverines surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Whitefish Wolverines has scored at the pace of 2.6 goals per game during the current campaign.

Whitefish Wolverines was led by Bryan Polmear, who finished with two goals. Polmear scored the first of his two goals at 7:08 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Aleksei Garin provided the assist. Polmear's next tally made the score 3-2 Whitefish Wolverines with 9:51 left in the first period. A cross checking call on Danny Roe put Whitefish Wolverines on the penalty kill. Whitefish Wolverines also had goals scored by Brett Fernandez, Chris Cutshall, and Danny Lochridge, who scored one goal each. In addition, Whitefish Wolverines received assists from Cruise Brown, who had one and Kieffer Helbing, who had two.

Butte Cobras' Kinsey stopped 33 shots out of the 38 that he faced. Whitefish Wolverines registered zero goals on four power play opportunities.
