Idaho Junior Steelheads blows out Lake Tahoe Blue, 9-1

Idaho Junior Steelheads had a six-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 9-1 win over Lake Tahoe Blue.

Idaho Junior Steelheads got the win behind a great game by Elliot Lorraine, who had two goals and three assists. Lorraine scored the first of his two goals at 15:53 into the second period to make the score 5-0 Idaho Junior Steelheads. Victor Carlsson provided the assist. Lorraine's next tally made the score 8-1 Idaho Junior Steelheads with 3:33 left in the third period. Idaho Junior Steelheads had gotten the advantage when Lake Tahoe Blue's Charlie Hammerback was sent off for hooking. Phil Fromberger assisted on the tally.

Idaho Junior Steelheads pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 31 penalty minutes.

Idaho Junior Steelheads excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Idaho Junior Steelheads forced Lake Tahoe Blue goalie Nick Bretzger to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Idaho Junior Steelheads also got points from Nikita Zgirskis, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Carlsson, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Macky Power, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Robert Neuwirth, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Idaho Junior Steelheads included Kris Apsitis, Kyle TenEyck, and Alex Criswell, who scored one goal each. In addition, Idaho Junior Steelheads received assists from Dimitris Jones, who had two and Jack York, Oleg Losev, Ondrej Valo, and Alex Randazzo, who each chipped in one.

Lake Tahoe Blue was held below its usual level of production. Lake Tahoe Blue puts an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game. Lake Tahoe Blue found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 14 shots against Idaho Junior Steelheads' defense.

Lake Tahoe Blue also got a goal from Alexander Lobachev as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lake Tahoe Blue were Connor Melton, who had one.

Tyler Hough rejected 13 shots on goal for Idaho Junior Steelheads. Idaho Junior Steelheads registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For Idaho Junior Steelheads, Kyle Kruenegel was ejected from the game. Bretzger recorded 34 saves for Lake Tahoe Blue. Lake Tahoe Blue ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Lake Tahoe Blue ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tyler Wicks was ejected from the game.
