Springfield Express squeaks by Wichita Jr. Thunder, 7-5

The game between Springfield Express and Wichita Jr. Thunder was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Springfield Express emerged with a 7-5 win.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Eric Anderson at 16:27 of the third period.

Vito DeVito had two goals and two assists to lead Springfield Express. DeVito scored the first of his two goals at 6:38 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Wichita Jr. Thunder. Quade Hamlin assisted on the tally. DeVito's next tally made the score 4-4 with 11:24 left in the third period. Springfield Express had gotten the advantage when Wichita Jr. Thunder's Peter Cicmanec was sent off for hooking. Hamlin picked up the assist.

Springfield Express forced Wichita Jr. Thunder goalie Jake Larson to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. Springfield Express outdid its season average for goals scored. Springfield Express averages 4.5 goals per game. Springfield Express' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Springfield Express also got points from Hamlin, who also registered one goal and three assists, David Higgs, who also tallied one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, and Seth Ensor, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Mike Heaverly also scored for Springfield Express. Other players who recorded assists for Springfield Express were Tobias Sjolund, who had one.

Wichita Jr. Thunder forced Springfield Express' netminders to work between the pipes, ripping 40 shots and forcing 35 saves. Oliver Eklund made 19 stops and Philip Babb made 16.

Wichita Jr. Thunder additionally got points from Peter Ivicic, who also had one goal and one assist, Patrik Janac, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Tom Lindstrom, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Wichita Jr. Thunder received assists from Matej Porzer, who had one and Alex Smith, Jack McClelland, and Ivan Brvenik, who each chipped in two.
