Gutierrez's big game bests Whitefish Wolverines in 9-1 Southern Oregon Spartans win

Southern Oregon Spartans' Doug Gutierrez had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 9-1 win over Whitefish Wolverines.

Gutierrez scored at 11:01 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Southern Oregon Spartans and again while 15:53 into the first to make the score 3-0 Southern Oregon Spartans.

Whitefish Wolverines was stymied by Southern Oregon Spartans' netminder Tyler Van Vliet, who stopped 27 shots during the victory.

Southern Oregon Spartans forced Whitefish Wolverines' goaltenders to work between the pipes, racking up 34 shots and forcing 25 saves. Brendan Duff made 19 stops and Ethan Wiese made six.
