Peoria outlasts Mississippi RiverKings, 4-3

The Peoria Rivermen and Mississippi RiverKings were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Peoria made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Josh Harris's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Harris had a great game for the Rivermen, netting two goals.

Peoria's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Mississippi RiverKings power plays. The Rivermen relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Jordan Sims, Harris and Jake Trask took 18 of the team's 32 shots.

Peoria additionally got points from Steve Morra, who also had one goal and one assist and Matt Summers, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Peoria were Cole Ruwe, who had one and Garrett Vermeersch, who had two.

Mississippi RiverKings put 33 shots on net during the contest, more than the 28.5 it averages per game.

Mississippi RiverKings was led by Leo Thomas, who racked up one goal and one assist. Thomas scored 4:54 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Matt Harrington provided the assist. Mississippi RiverKings also had goals scored by Devin Mantha and Linden Bahm, who scored one goal each. In addition, Mississippi RiverKings received assists from Dan Delisle, Matt Whitehead, and Dmitri Peremikin, who each chipped in one.

Peoria's Kyle Rank stopped 30 shots out of the 33 that he faced. The Rivermen incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Peter Di Salvo took the loss and made 27 saves before being replaced by Adam Courchaine who made one save. Mississippi RiverKings incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
