Pensacola wins tough contest against Fayetteville, 4-2

The game between the Pensacola Ice Flyers and the Fayetteville FireAntz was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Pensacola emerged with a 4-2 win.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Jon Puskar's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

The Ice Flyers got the win behind a great game by Puskar, who had two goals and one assist. Puskar scored the first of his two goals at 13:10 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Pensacola. Lucas Venuto picked up the assist. Puskar's next tally made the score 4-2 Pensacola with 2:52 left in the third period. Brett Beebe assisted on the tally.

By firing 26 shots on goal, Pensacola exceeded the 22.2 shots it averages per game this year.

Pensacola also had goals scored by Jack Callahan and Nick Lazorko, who scored one goal each. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Grant Gettinger, Keegan Flaherty, and Nick McParland, who each chipped in one.

Fayetteville put 28 shots on net during the contest, more than the 23.8 it averages per game.

The FireAntz were helped by Corey Tamblyn, who racked up one goal. Tamblyn scored 15:26 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Pensacola. Matt Robertson picked up the assist. Randy Cameron also scored for Fayetteville. More assists for Fayetteville came via Mike Baird, who had one and Josh McQuade, who had two.

The Ice Flyers' Max Strang stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Pensacola totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Andrew Flemming rejected 22 shots on goal for Fayetteville. The FireAntz totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
