Genoe leads Huntsville to shutout victory over Columbus

Kevin Genoe made 51 saves to complete the shutout and led the Huntsville Havoc to a 2-0 win against the Columbus Cottonmouths.

Huntsville was led by Jordan Reed, who racked up one goal. Reed scored 14:45 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Huntsville. Justin Cseter picked up the assist.

The Havoc put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Columbus to score on any of its three power plays. Huntsville put 20 shots on net during the contest, more than the 15.7 it averages per game.

Jason McAloon also scored for Huntsville. More assists for Huntsville came via Bobby Barrett, Justin Tateson, and Jacob Johnstone, who each chipped in one.

The Cottonmouths were held below their usual level of production. Columbus averages 3.3 goals per game. The Havoc were unable to stop the Cottonmouths from sending pucks towards the net, and Columbus eventually piled up 51 shots on goal.

The Cottonmouths were led by Shawn Bates, who took six shots.

Huntsville incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Andrew Loewen made 18 saves for Columbus on 20 shots. The Cottonmouths incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
