Pensacola squeaks by Huntsville, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Pensacola Ice Flyers escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Huntsville Havoc.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Nick McParland's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

McParland had two goals to lead Pensacola to victory.

The Ice Flyers' offense was clicking better than usual and put 36 shots on goal during the game, better than the 22.0 shots per game they average.

Pensacola also got a goal from Nick Larson as well. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Keegan Flaherty, who had two and Jack Callahan, Brett Lutes, Adam Pawlick, and Steve Bergin, who each chipped in one.

By firing 25 shots on goal, Huntsville exceeded the 17.6 shots it averages per game this year.

The Havoc were helped by Luke Greiner, who tallied one goal. Greiner scored 4:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Huntsville. Jordan Reed assisted on the tally. Stuart Stefan also scored for Huntsville. Other players who recorded assists for Huntsville were Ray Ortiz, who had one.

Pensacola's John McLean stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Ice Flyers incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Kevin Genoe rejected 33 shots on goal for Huntsville. The Havoc incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
