The Louisiana IceGators survived a determined comeback attempt by the Pensacola Ice Flyers on the way to a 2-1 win. A goal by Adam Stuart put Louisiana up 2-0 in the second period, but Pensacola pulled to within one on Brett Beebe's tally 13:29 into the third period. The Ice Flyers were stymied by the IceGators' netminder Scott Diebold, who stopped 44 shots during the victory. Despite the solid performance, Diebold will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.0 entering the contest. Louisiana stifled Pensacola's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. By firing 40 shots on goal, the IceGators exceeded the 19.2 shots they average per game this year. Bret Peppler also scored for Louisiana. More assists for Louisiana came via Jeremy Boyer, who had one and Shawn McNeil, who had two. The Ice Flyers could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Pensacola averages 3.2 goals per game. The Ice Flyers relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Nick Larson, Nick McParland and Jon Puskar took 23 of the team's 45 shots. Other players who recorded assists for Pensacola were Keegan Flaherty, who had one. Louisiana totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Max Strang recorded 38 saves for Pensacola. The Ice Flyers totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-6 on the power play.
