The Louisiana IceGators tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Pensacola Ice Flyers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3. A goal by Nick McParland put Pensacola up 4-2 in the third period, but Louisiana pulled to within one on Matt Viola's tally 19:55 into the third period. The Ice Flyers were led by McParland, who racked up one goal and one assist. McParland scored 19:00 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Pensacola. Corey Banfield assisted on the tally. Pensacola relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Nick Larson, McParland and Jon Puskar took 17 of the team's 31 shots. Pensacola additionally got points from Adam Pawlick, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Larson, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Keegan Flaherty also scored for Pensacola. More assists for Pensacola came via Brett Lutes, who had one. The IceGators put 32 shots on net during the contest, more than the 19.3 they average per game. Louisiana also got a goal from Brian Berger as well. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Shawn McNeil, who had two and Dan Cornell, Benjamin Rubin, and Kirk Byczynski, who each chipped in one. Max Strang rejected 29 shots on goal for the Ice Flyers. Pensacola totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. The Ice Flyers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brandon Blair was ejected from the game. Marco De Filippo made 27 saves for Louisiana on 30 shots. The IceGators incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
