Knoxville downs Fayetteville in overtime, 4-3 (OT)Knoxville Civic Coliseum Thu, Mar 19, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Knoxville Ice Bears pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Fayetteville FireAntz on a clutch goal by Dennis Sicard. Knoxville nearly gave up a two-score lead. The Ice Bears made it 2-0 on a goal by Ben Power at 1:31 in the first period. Fayetteville got to within 2-1 on a goal by Trever Hertz at 4:41 in the third period. Sicard had a great game for Knoxville, netting two goals. Sicard's tallies came at 15:42 into the third period to make the score 3-3 and 2:47 into the fourth to make the score 4-3 Knoxville. The Ice Bears managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Knoxville ended up below its season average of 18.0 penalty minutes per game. The Ice Bears' offense was clicking better than usual and put 36 shots on goal during the game, better than the 16.3 shots per game they average. Knoxville additionally got points from Power, who also had one goal and one assist and Matthew Paton, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Knoxville received assists from Sy Nutkevitch, who had two and Mark Corbett, Lou Educate, Eric Satim, and Bryan Hince, who each chipped in one. Fayetteville also got points from Austin Daae, who also registered one goal and one assist and Josh McQuade, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Fayetteville were Tim Recio, Matt Robertson, Corey Tamblyn, and Kristaps Nimanis, who contributed one each. Bryan Hince made 22 saves for Knoxville on 25 shots. The Ice Bears registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Kevin Murdock recorded 32 saves for the FireAntz. Fayetteville incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
