Mississippi RiverKings took the lead against the Fayetteville FireAntz in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 3-1 victory. Mississippi RiverKings took over the lead for good with a goal by Devin Mantha at 12:52 in the first period. Matt Harrington picked up the assist.Mantha had two goals to lead Mississippi RiverKings to victory. Fayetteville threw everything it had at Mississippi RiverKings' Adam Courchaine, but he responded by making 21 saves to secure the win. The 32 shots that Mississippi RiverKings put on net surpassed Mississippi RiverKings' average of 27.0 shots per game this season. Mississippi RiverKings also got a goal from Sean Jones as well. In addition, Mississippi RiverKings received assists from Linden Bahm, Mike Hayward, Daniel Sobotka, and Matt Whitehead, who contributed one each. The FireAntz stifled Mississippi RiverKings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Mississippi RiverKings was unable to stop Fayetteville from sending pucks towards the net, and the FireAntz eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. Fayetteville was led by Matt Robertson, who scored the team's only goal. Robertson scored on the power play 5:23 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The FireAntz had taken the advantage when Mississippi RiverKings' Reid Campbell got sent off for interference. Mike Kavanagh assisted on the tally. Mississippi RiverKings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Kevin Murdock rejected 29 shots on goal for Fayetteville. The FireAntz incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
