Behind a great game by Louis Belisle, who had two goals, the Columbus Cottonmouths defeated the Pensacola Ice Flyers, 6-3. Belisle found the back of the net 9:54 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Columbus and again while 6:47 into the third to make the score 4-2 Columbus.Columbus was below its usual level of shot production, taking 24 shots compared to the 30.6 the Cottonmouths average. Columbus found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Cottonmouths have scored at the pace of 3.3 goals per game during the current campaign. Columbus capitalized on Pensacola's penalties, netting three goals while skating with a man advantage. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Columbus additionally got points from Matt Gingera, who also registered two goals and one assist and Shawn Bates, who also had one goal and two assists. Bryce Williamson also scored for Columbus. More assists for Columbus came via Andy Willigar, who had two, Ben OQuinn, who had three, and Nick Curry and Mike Switzer, who each chipped in one. The 28 shots that the Ice Flyers put on net surpassed Pensacola's average of 24.3 shots per game this season. The Ice Flyers were led by Nick Larson, who grabbed two goals. Larson scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 15:35 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Pensacola earned a power play opportunity when Patrick McCadden was put in the box for tripping. Adam Pawlick picked up the assist.
