Louisiana squeaks by Pensacola, 3-2

The Louisiana IceGators and the Pensacola Ice Flyers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Louisiana made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Jake Hauswirth at 12:53 of the third period.

The IceGators' penalty kill excelled, as Louisiana gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The IceGators were paced by Hauswirth, who grabbed one goal.

Louisiana stifled Pensacola's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Louisiana also got points from Matt Viola, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Louisiana also got a goal from Chris Wilson as well. More assists for Louisiana came via Shawn McNeil, who had two and Jeremy Boyer, Adam Stuart, and Kirk Byczynski, who each chipped in one.

The Ice Flyers relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Adam Pawlick, Nick McParland and Nick Larson took 14 of the team's 23 shots.

Pensacola additionally got points from Pawlick, who also had one goal and one assist.

Marco De Filippo recorded 21 saves for the IceGators. Louisiana incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Pensacola's Max Strang stopped 15 shots out of the 18 that he faced. The Ice Flyers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
