Fayetteville outlasts Peoria, 4-3Peoria Civic Center Fri, Feb 27, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Fayetteville FireAntz escaped with a 4-3 victory over the Peoria Rivermen. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Corey Tamblyn secured the win for Fayetteville with a goal in the second period. The FireAntz were led by Matt Robertson, who finished with one goal. Robertson scored on the power play 10:11 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Fayetteville. Fayetteville earned a power play opportunity when Ben Oskroba was put in the box for tripping. Austin Daae provided the assist. The FireAntz put 35 shots on net during the contest, more than the 24.4 they average per game. Fayetteville additionally got points from Kyle McNeil, who also had one goal and one assist. Fayetteville also got a goal from Kristaps Nimanis as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fayetteville were Mike Kavanagh, who had two and Tim Recio and Jan Safar, who contributed one each. Fayetteville was unable to stop Peoria from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rivermen eventually piled up 58 shots on goal. Peoria was helped by Alec Hagaman, who registered one goal. Hagaman scored 14:54 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Peoria. Nick Schneider assisted on the tally. Peoria also had goals scored by Josh Harris and Garrett Vermeersch, who scored one goal each. In addition, Peoria received assists from Dan Bremner, Mike Gurtler, and Jason Cohen, who each chipped in one. Kevin Murdock made 55 saves for the FireAntz on 58 shots. Fayetteville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Rivermen took out Kyle Rank after he had made 12 saves and installed Dustin Carlson in goal, where he finished with 19 saves and the loss. Peoria incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
