Huge game by Thomas boosts Mississippi RiverKings over Pensacola, 4-0

Mississippi RiverKings' Leo Thomas had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 4-0 win over the Pensacola Ice Flyers.

Thomas scored at 4:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mississippi RiverKings and again while 12:07 into the first to make the score 2-0 Mississippi RiverKings.

Peter Di Salvo spearheaded the defensive effort for Mississippi RiverKings, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 39 saves for the shutout. Di Salvo certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.31 entering the contest.

Mississippi RiverKings excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Mississippi RiverKings' defensive effort looked to be improved. Mississippi RiverKings gives up 2.5 goals on average per game. Mississippi RiverKings' offense was clicking better than usual and put 34 shots on goal during the game, better than the 24.0 shots per game it averages.

Mississippi RiverKings also got points from Linden Bahm, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Sean Jones also scored for Mississippi RiverKings. Other players who recorded assists for Mississippi RiverKings were Matt Whitehead, who had three and Mike Grace, Dan Delisle, and Andrew Randazzo, who each chipped in one.

Pensacola did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Ice Flyers put an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game. Pensacola struggled on the penalty kill, allowing Mississippi RiverKings to score two power play goals on three chances. Mississippi RiverKings was unable to stop the Ice Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Pensacola eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

The Ice Flyers were led by Keegan Flaherty, who took eight shots.

Mississippi RiverKings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Pensacola's starting goalie, Max Strang, made 16 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Andrew Flemming, who stopped 14 shots. The Ice Flyers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
