Pensacola rides Strang to victory over Fayetteville, 3-1Pensacola Bay Center Sat, Feb 21, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Pensacola Ice Flyers relied on the sparkling performance of Max Strang in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Fayetteville FireAntz. Pensacola was led by Nick Larson, who had one goal. Larson scored on the power play 14:03 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pensacola. A holding penalty on Tim Recio had put the Ice Flyers on the power play. Brett Lutes picked up the assist. The 45 shots that Pensacola put on net surpassed the Ice Flyers' average of 24.1 shots per game this season. Pensacola also had goals scored by Phil Tesoriero and Nick Lazorko, who scored one goal each. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Nick McParland and Adam Pawlick, who each chipped in one. Fayetteville kept Pensacola's goalie busy throughout the game, and Strang made 31 saves on 32 shots. The FireAntz were led by Austin Daae, who scored the team's only goal. Daae scored on the power play 11:15 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Fayetteville had gotten the advantage when the Ice Flyers' Jon Puskar was sent off for interference. Jan Safar assisted on the tally. Pensacola totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Kevin Murdock made 42 saves for the FireAntz on 44 shots. Fayetteville totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
