Huntsville falls to Pensacola in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Breland Homes Ice Sun, Feb 15, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Pensacola Ice Flyers pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Huntsville Havoc on a clutch goal by Nick Larson. Pensacola overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Ice Flyers trailed 3-1 after a goal by Huntsville's Luke Greiner at 14:43 in the second period. Pensacola tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Greiner at 19:12 in the third period. Larson was all over the ice for the Ice Flyers, as he racked up two goals in the win. Larson's tallies came at 9:23 into the third period to make the score 3-3 and 52 seconds into the fourth to make the score 5-4 Pensacola. Pensacola racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with five minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 15.0 minutes per game the Ice Flyers had been spending in the box. Pensacola's defensemen played well offensively, producing two goals while racking up 11 shots. Pensacola additionally got points from Justin Fillion, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Pensacola also had goals scored by Shaun Arvai and Corey Banfield, who each put in one. More assists for Pensacola came via Steve Bergin, who had two, Brett Beebe, who had three, and Jon Puskar, Nick McParland, and Adam Pawlick, who each chipped in one. In addition, Huntsville received assists from Ray Ortiz and Frank Schumacher, who contributed one each. Pensacola's Max Strang stopped 28 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Ice Flyers registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Pensacola ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brett Lutes was ejected from the game. Kevin Genoe rejected 19 shots on goal for Huntsville. The Havoc totaled 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For Huntsville, Mohr was ejected from the game.
