Knoxville downs Louisiana, 6-3

Dennis Sicard grabbed two points to lead the Knoxville Ice Bears to a 6-3 victory over the Louisiana IceGators.

With 27 shots on target during the contest, Knoxville exceeded the 21.0 shots it averages per game this year. The Ice Bears outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Knoxville averages 3.0 goals per contest. The defensemen of the Ice Bears were also effective in Louisiana's zone, and came away with two goals.

Knoxville also got points from Jake Johnson, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Brett Valliquette, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Knoxville included Robbie Donahoe, Peter Neal, and Jarrett Rush, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Knoxville were Ben Schoeneberger, Eric Satim, and Francis Drolet, who contributed one each and Ryan Salvis and Josh Cousineau, who each chipped in two.

The IceGators put 28 shots on net during the contest, more than the 19.7 they average per game.

Louisiana was helped by Jeremy Boyer, who tallied one goal. Boyer scored 3:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Louisiana. Jake Hauswirth picked up the assist. Louisiana additionally got points from Hauswirth, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Louisiana also got a goal from Tyler Barr as well. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Chris Wilson, who had two and Shawn McNeil, Tyler Klein, and Tanner Burton, who contributed one each.

Bryan Hince made 25 saves for Knoxville on 28 shots. The Ice Bears totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. The IceGators' starting goalie, Matt Zenzola, made 11 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Marco De Filippo, who stopped 10 shots. Louisiana totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play.
