Louisiana rolls over Fayetteville, 6-1Crown Coliseum Fri, Feb 06, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Louisiana IceGators were firing on all cylinders against the Fayetteville FireAntz, and when the final buzzer sounded IceGators emerged with a 6-1 win. Louisiana got the win on the strength of a great game by Chris Wilson, who had two goals and two assists. Wilson scored the first of his two goals at 2:21 into the third period to make the score 5-0 Louisiana. Phil Bushbacher assisted on the tally. Wilson's next tally made the score 6-0 Louisiana with 11:20 left in the third period. Bushbacher picked up the assist. Fayetteville was stymied by the IceGators' netminder Matt Zenzola, who stopped 35 shots during the victory. The solid play of Zenzola will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.57. Louisiana surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The IceGators have scored at the pace of 3.3 goals per game during the current campaign. Louisiana's offense was clicking better than usual and put 38 shots on goal during the game, better than the 18.0 shots per game it averages. Louisiana additionally got points from Jake Hauswirth, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Louisiana included Shawn McNeil, Alex Devillier, and Bret Peppler, who each put in one. More assists for Louisiana came via Clark Byczynski, who had three and Bobby Watson, Adam Stuart, and Mitchell Stretch, who each chipped in one. With 36 shots on target during the contest, the FireAntz exceeded the 22.7 shots they average per game this year. Fayetteville was led by Tyler Sheldrake, who took two shots. The IceGators incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The FireAntz's starting goalie, Kevin Murdock, made 26 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Jordan Tibbett, who stopped six shots. Fayetteville incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
