Pensacola falls to Peoria in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Peoria Rivermen pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Pensacola Ice Flyers on a clutch goal by Steve Morra.

Morra had two goals to lead Peoria to victory. Morra's tallies came at 16:13 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and 4:19 into the fourth to make the score 4-3 Peoria.

The Rivermen excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Peoria put 34 shots on net during the contest, more than the 28.4 it averages per game.

Peoria additionally got points from Alex Hudson, who also had one goal and one assist and Jason Cohen, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Peoria received assists from Dan Bremner, Garrett Vermeersch, Jake Trask, and Matt Summers, who contributed one each.

Pensacola kept the Rivermen's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kyle Rank made 30 saves on 33 shots.

The Ice Flyers were led by Nick Larson, who racked up one goal and one assist. Larson scored 16:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pensacola. Nick Lazorko picked up the assist. Pensacola also had goals scored by Brett Lutes and Nick McParland, who scored one goal each. More assists for Pensacola came via Justin Fillion, Steve Bergin, and Corey Banfield, who each chipped in one.

Peoria incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Pensacola's Max Strang stopped 30 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The Ice Flyers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
