Fayetteville downs Knoxville in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

The Fayetteville FireAntz's Jan Safar scored 3:48 into overtime to beat the Knoxville Ice Bears, 2-1 (OT).

Fayetteville was led by goalie Kevin Murdock, who finished with 34 saves while allowing one goal. Murdock managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.45 prior to the game.

The FireAntz were led by Safar, who racked up one goal.

Fayetteville kept Knoxville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Bryan Hince made 35 saves on 37 shots.

Kyle McNeil also scored for Fayetteville. In addition, Fayetteville received assists from Derek Elliott, who had two and Josh McQuade and Trever Hertz, who each chipped in one.

The Ice Bears' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Fayetteville power plays. Knoxville forced the FireAntz goalie Murdock to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

The Ice Bears were led by Josh Cousineau, who scored the team's only goal. Cousineau scored on the power play 16:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Knoxville. Knoxville earned a power play opportunity when Tyler Sheldrake was put in the box for interference. Francis Drolet provided the assist.

Fayetteville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Ice Bears incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
