Peoria downs Louisiana in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Peoria Rivermen's Josh Harris scored 2:46 into overtime to beat the Louisiana IceGators, 4-3 (OT).

Although Peoria was up by as many as three goals in the second period, Louisiana kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The IceGators got to within 3-2 on a goal by Bret Peppler at 4:27 in the third period.

Garrett Vermeersch and Harris provided the spark for the Rivermen, combining for three goals and one assist. Vermeersch racked up two goals and Harris also added one goal and one assist.

Peoria could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 19 minutes in penalties during the game. The Rivermen put 34 shots on net during the contest, more than the 30.0 they average per game.

Peoria additionally got points from Steve Morra, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Harris, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Peoria came via Christian Weidauer, Jake Trask, Alec Hagaman, and Jordan Sims, who contributed one each.

Louisiana was helped by Chris Wilson, who registered two goals. Wilson scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 18:34 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Peoria. The IceGators earned a power play opportunity when Vermeersch was put in the box for slashing. Peppler assisted on the tally. Wilson's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 2:19 left in the third period. Phil Bushbacher provided the assist. Louisiana also got points from Peppler, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Jake Hauswirth, Adam Stuart, and Mitchell Stretch, who each chipped in one.

Peoria's Kyle Rank stopped 17 shots out of the 20 that he faced. The Rivermen registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Marco De Filippo rejected 30 shots on goal for Louisiana. The IceGators totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play.
