Knoxville survives Huntsville comeback, wins 3-2

The Huntsville Havoc tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Knoxville Ice Bears held on for a 3-2 victory.

A goal by Jack Paul put Knoxville up 3-1 in the third period, but Huntsville pulled to within one on Colin Hekle's tally 14:27 into the third period.

The Ice Bears got the win with help from a great game by Paul, who had one goal and two assists. Paul scored 10:18 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Knoxville. Josh Cousineau assisted on the tally.

With 29 shots on target during the contest, Knoxville exceeded the 24.9 shots it averages per game this year.

Knoxville additionally got points from Ryan Salvis, who also registered one goal and one assist. Knoxville also got a goal from Jason Price as well. In addition, Knoxville received assists from Berkley Scott, who had two.

The Havoc excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Huntsville relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Justin Cseter, Jacob Johnstone and Hekle took 24 of the team's 47 shots.

Drew Akins also scored for Huntsville. More assists for Huntsville came via Luke Greiner, Matt Viola, Aaron McGill, and Lucas Van Natter, who contributed one each.

Braely Torris rejected 45 shots on goal for the Ice Bears. Knoxville ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. The Havoc's Jesse Kallechy stopped 26 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Huntsville totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
