Knoxville shrugs off penalties, upends Fayetteville, 5-2

The Knoxville Ice Bears' penalty kill was superb, as Knoxville survived multiple penalties to beat the Fayetteville FireAntz, 5-2.

The Ice Bears were led by Peter Neal, who tallied one goal and one assist. Neal scored 17:54 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Knoxville. Francis Drolet assisted on the tally.

Knoxville's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Fayetteville power plays. With 40 shots on target during the contest, the Ice Bears exceeded the 23.4 shots they average per game this year.

Knoxville additionally got points from Berkley Scott, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Ryan Salvis, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Drolet, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Jarrett Rush, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Knoxville came via Jack Paul, who had two and Jason Price, Eric Satim, and Bryan Hince, who contributed one each.

Fayetteville's offense rang up 35 shots on Knoxville's net.

The FireAntz were helped by Austin Daae, who grabbed one goal. Daae scored 19:23 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Knoxville. Corey Tamblyn picked up the assist. Matt Robertson also scored for Fayetteville. In addition, Fayetteville received assists from John Clewlow and Chad Hohmann, who each chipped in one.

Bryan Hince made 33 saves for the Ice Bears on 35 shots. Knoxville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Fayetteville's Kevin Murdock stopped 35 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The FireAntz incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
