Fayetteville holds on for 4-3 win against PensacolaPensacola Bay Center Sat, Jan 24, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Pensacola Ice Flyers tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Fayetteville FireAntz held on for a 4-3 victory. Fayetteville made the score 4-1 on a goal by John Clewlow at 7:57 in the third period, and Pensacola got as close as 4-3 when Nick McParland scored 15:24 into the third period. The FireAntz got the win thanks to a great game by Matt Robertson, who had two goals and two assists. Robertson scored the first of his two goals at 8:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fayetteville. Mike Kavanagh picked up the assist. Robertson's next tally made the score 2-1 Fayetteville with 19:07 left in the second period. Clewlow assisted on the tally. Fayetteville could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. Fayetteville also got points from Kavanagh, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Clewlow, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Fayetteville received assists from Jan Safar, who had two and Randy Cameron and Corey Tamblyn, who each chipped in one. The Ice Flyers put 50 shots on net during the contest, more than the 23.3 they average per game. Pensacola was helped by Corey Banfield, who racked up one goal. Banfield scored 9:57 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Adam Pawlick picked up the assist. Pensacola additionally got points from McParland, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Pensacola also got a goal from Jon Puskar as well. More assists for Pensacola came via Nick Lazorko, Brett Lutes, Steve Bergin, and Daniel Sova, who contributed one each. Kevin Murdock made 47 saves for the FireAntz on 50 shots. Fayetteville registered one goal on three power play opportunities. The Ice Flyers' Max Strang stopped 21 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Pensacola incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
