Louisiana vanquishes Peoria in shootout, 4-3 (3-1 SO)

Bret Peppler scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Louisiana IceGators picked up the extra point in a 4-3 (3-1 SO) win over the Peoria Rivermen.

The shootout lasted for eight attempts between the teams. Peoria got a shootout goal from Garrett Vermeersch. Louisiana's other shootout goals were scored by Jake Hauswirth and Peppler.

The IceGators overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Louisiana was down 3-2 after a goal by the Rivermen's Alec Hagaman at 8:36 in the third period. The IceGators tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Chris Wilson at 13:42 in the third period.

Louisiana was paced by Adam Stuart, who finished with one goal. Stuart scored 16:19 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Louisiana. Bobby Watson picked up the assist.

The IceGators' offense was clicking better than usual and put 30 shots on goal during the game, better than the 17.9 shots per game they average.

Louisiana additionally got points from Wilson, who also registered one goal and one assist. Hauswirth also scored for Louisiana. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Clark Byczynski, Benjamin Rubin, Tanner Burton, and Peppler, who each chipped in one.

Peoria stifled Louisiana's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. By firing 37 shots on goal, the Rivermen exceeded the 25.2 shots they average per game this year.

Peoria also got a goal from Alex Hudson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Peoria were Steve Morra, who had two and Cole Ruwe, Josh Harris, and Paul Arnott, who contributed one each.

Matt Zenzola rejected 34 shots on goal for the IceGators. Louisiana incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Kyle Rank made 26 saves for Peoria on 29 shots. The Rivermen incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
