Peoria downs Louisiana in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Peoria Rivermen's Garrett Vermeersch scored 2:45 into overtime to beat the Louisiana IceGators, 4-3 (OT).

Peoria overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Rivermen trailed 3-1 after a goal by Louisiana's Bobby Watson at 13:52 in the second period. Peoria tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Jake Trask at 18:19 in the third period.

The Rivermen were led by Vermeersch, who tallied one goal.

Peoria excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Rivermen put 35 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.5 they average per game.

Peoria additionally got points from Josh Harris, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Alex Hudson, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Peoria came via Ben Oskroba, Dan Bremner, Mike Gurtler, and Matt Summers, who each chipped in one.

The IceGators' offense was clicking better than usual and put 23 shots on goal during the game, better than the 18.9 shots per game they average.

Louisiana was helped by Bret Peppler, who registered one goal. Peppler scored 16:48 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Tanner Burton provided the assist. Louisiana also got a goal from August Aiken as well. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Mitchell Stretch, who had two and Jake Hauswirth and Chris Wilson, who contributed one each.

Eric Levine made 12 saves before being replaced by Kyle Rank, who took the win and made eight saves. Peoria totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Marco De Filippo rejected 31 shots on goal for the IceGators. Louisiana ended with 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors.
