Louisiana survives Peoria comeback, wins 5-3Peoria Civic Center Fri, Jan 16, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Louisiana IceGators, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the Peoria Rivermen and clinched a 5-3 victory. Louisiana led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the IceGators' Benjamin Rubin scored at 17:18 in the second period to put Louisiana up 4-1. The IceGators got the win behind a great game by Bret Peppler, who had two goals and one assist. Peppler scored the first of his two goals at 8:31 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Louisiana. Clark Byczynski assisted on the tally. Peppler's next tally made the score 5-3 Louisiana with 48 seconds left in the third period. Rubin picked up the assist. Louisiana excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. By firing 27 shots on goal, the IceGators exceeded the 18.9 shots they average per game this year. Louisiana additionally got points from Rubin, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Louisiana also had goals scored by Luke Kasteel and Jake Hauswirth, who each put in one. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Tanner Burton, Jeremy Boyer, and Mitchell Stretch, who contributed one each and Tyler Amburgey and Adam Stuart, who each chipped in two. With 40 shots on target during the contest, Peoria exceeded the 27.5 shots it averages per game this year. The Rivermen were led by Jake Trask, who had one goal and one assist. Trask scored 16:25 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Louisiana. Paul Arnott assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Peoria included Ben Oskroba and Mike Gurtler, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Peoria were Steve Morra, who had two and Nick Schneider and Jordan Sims, who contributed one each. Marco De Filippo recorded 37 saves for Louisiana. The IceGators incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Peoria's Kyle Rank stopped 22 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Rivermen incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
