Huntsville's comeback falls short, Columbus wins 4-2

The Huntsville Havoc almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Columbus Cottonmouths managed to pull out a 4-2 win in the end.

Columbus led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Cottonmouths' Andy Willigar scored at 11:20 in the third period to put Columbus up 5-2.

The Cottonmouths got the win on the strength of a great game by Matt Gingera, who had one goal and two assists. Gingera scored 3:12 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Columbus. Neilsson Arcibal assisted on the tally.

Columbus stifled Huntsville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Columbus additionally got points from Willigar, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Arcibal, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Bryce Williamson, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Columbus also got a goal from Louis Belisle as well. In addition, Columbus received assists from Kyle Johnson and Levi Lind, who contributed one each.

The Havoc put 26 shots on net during the contest, more than the 20.6 they average per game.

Huntsville was helped by Nick Wheeler, who registered one goal. Wheeler scored 12:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Huntsville. Justin Cseter picked up the assist. Stuart Stefan also scored for Huntsville. Other players who recorded assists for Huntsville were Curtis Megginson and Drew Akins, who each chipped in one.

Shannon Szabados made 24 saves for the Cottonmouths on 26 shots. Columbus incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kevin Genoe recorded 25 saves for the Havoc. Huntsville incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
