The Louisiana IceGators survived a determined comeback attempt by the Pensacola Ice Flyers on the way to a 4-3 win. Louisiana took a 4-1 lead during the second period, only to have Pensacola storm back on a Corey Banfield goal 9:41 into the third period to pull to one goal down. Jake Hauswirth was all over the ice for the IceGators, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Hauswirth scored the first of his two goals at 5:55 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Louisiana. Tyler Amburgey picked up the assist. Hauswirth's next tally made the score 2-0 Louisiana with 13:48 left in the first period. Jeremy Boyer provided the assist. Louisiana stifled the Ice Flyers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The IceGators relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Hauswirth, Adam Stuart and Bret Peppler took 12 of the team's 22 shots. Louisiana additionally got points from Boyer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Tanner Burton, who had one and Luke Kasteel, who had three. Pensacola's offense was clicking better than usual and put 27 shots on goal during the game, better than the 23.2 shots per game it averages. Pensacola also had goals scored by Brett Lutes and Brett Beebe, who scored one goal each. More assists for Pensacola came via Nick Lazorko, Justin Fillion, Adam Pawlick, and Steve Bergin, who contributed one each. Marco De Filippo made 24 saves for Louisiana on 27 shots. The IceGators incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Ice Flyers' Max Strang stopped 18 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Pensacola incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
