Robertson leads Fayetteville over Columbus, 6-3Crown Coliseum Fri, Jan 09, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Fayetteville FireAntz's Matt Robertson had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 6-3 win over the Columbus Cottonmouths. Robertson's tallies came at 6:17 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and 18:44 into the second to make the score 2-2.Fayetteville found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The FireAntz average 2.6 goals per game. Fayetteville relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Robertson, Kyle McNeil and Corey Tamblyn took 20 of the team's 38 shots. Fayetteville also got points from Tamblyn, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and McNeil, who also registered one goal and one assist. Fayetteville also had goals scored by Derek Elliott and Austin Daae, who each put in one. In addition, Fayetteville received assists from Mike Kavanagh, John Clewlow, Randy Cameron, Trever Hertz, Zach Carriveau, Chad Hohmann, and Jordan Tibbett, who contributed one each. The 45 shots that Columbus put on net surpassed the Cottonmouths' average of 30.5 shots per game this season. Columbus was helped by Bryce Williamson, who finished with one goal and one assist. Williamson scored 34 seconds into the third period to make the score 3-2 Columbus. Neilsson Arcibal assisted on the tally. Columbus additionally got points from Matt Gingera, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Columbus also got a goal from Louis Belisle as well. More assists for Columbus came via Levi Lind, Kyle Thomas, and Mike Switzer, who each chipped in one. Tibbett recorded 42 saves for the FireAntz. Fayetteville incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The FireAntz ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tyler Sheldrake was ejected from the game. Shannon Szabados made 32 saves for the Cottonmouths on 37 shots. Columbus incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
