Huntsville holds on for 4-2 win against Knoxville

The Knoxville Ice Bears tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Huntsville Havoc held on for a 4-2 victory.

A goal by Nick Wheeler put Huntsville up 4-1 in the second period, but Knoxville pulled to within two on Mike Henderson's tally 19:38 into the third period.

The Havoc's penalty kill excelled, as Huntsville gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Havoc stifled the Ice Bears' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Huntsville was helped by Colin Hekle, who tallied one goal and one assist. Hekle scored 2:12 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Huntsville. Jarred Mohr provided the assist. Huntsville also got points from Luke Greiner, who also registered one goal and one assist and Wheeler, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Huntsville also got a goal from Mark Anthoine as well. More assists for Huntsville came via Stuart Stefan, Ray Ortiz, and Matt Viola, who each chipped in one.

Knoxville put 29 shots on net during the contest, more than the 20.2 it averages per game.

Jake Johnson also scored for Knoxville. In addition, Knoxville received assists from Robbie Donahoe, Christian Weidauer, Corey Fulton, and Lucas Van Natter, who contributed one each.

Kevin Genoe rejected 27 shots on goal for the Havoc. Huntsville incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Ice Bears' starting goalie, Braely Torris, made 10 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Bryan Hince, who stopped 11 shots. Knoxville incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
