Fayetteville wins tough contest against Huntsville, 4-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Fayetteville FireAntz escaped with a 4-3 victory over the Huntsville Havoc.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and John Clewlow secured the win for Fayetteville with a goal in the third period.

Clewlow was all over the ice for the FireAntz, as he tallied two goals in the win.

By firing 32 shots on goal, Fayetteville exceeded the 25.5 shots it averages per game this year.

Fayetteville additionally got points from Jan Safar, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Fayetteville also got a goal from Brad Drobot as well. In addition, Fayetteville received assists from Matt Robertson, who had two and Randy Cameron, Corey Tamblyn, and Trever Hertz, who each chipped in one.

Huntsville's offense rang up 36 shots on the FireAntz's net.

The Havoc were helped by Jacob Johnstone, who registered one goal. Johnstone scored 7:14 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Luke Greiner picked up the assist. Huntsville also got points from Drew Akins, who also had one goal and one assist and Mark Anthoine, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Huntsville came via Ray Ortiz, who had one and Stuart Stefan, who had two.

Curtis Martinu recorded 33 saves for Fayetteville. The FireAntz totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Jesse Kallechy rejected 28 shots on goal for Huntsville. The Havoc totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
