Peoria wins tough contest against Knoxville, 4-2

The Peoria Rivermen and the Knoxville Ice Bears were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Peoria made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Steve Morra's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

The Rivermen were paced by Alec Hagaman, who registered one goal and one assist. Hagaman scored 15:01 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Peoria. Paul Arnott assisted on the tally.

Peoria also got points from Morra, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Peoria included Josh Harris and Jordan Sims, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Peoria were Garrett Vermeersch, Dennis Sicard, and Matt Summers, who contributed one each.

With 27 shots on target during the contest, Knoxville exceeded the 22.2 shots it averages per game this year.

The Ice Bears were helped by Eric Satim, who racked up one goal. Satim scored on the power play 2:15 into the second period to make the score 1-1. A boarding penalty on Ben Oskroba had put Knoxville on the power play. Peter Neal picked up the assist. Knoxville additionally got points from Neal, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Knoxville came via Bo Driscoll, Vince Perreault, and Ryan Salvis, who each chipped in one.

Kyle Rank recorded 25 saves for Peoria. The Rivermen incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Bryan Hince took the loss and made 16 saves before being replaced by Braely Torris who made six saves. The Ice Bears incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
