Mississippi RiverKings vanquishes Louisiana in shootout, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Mississippi RiverKings and the Louisiana IceGators both failed to score in overtime, but Mississippi RiverKings won the game 4-3 (1-0 SO) after Matt Harrington's deciding goal in the shootout.

The shootout featured nine attempts between both teams.

Mississippi RiverKings overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Mississippi RiverKings was down 3-2 after a power play goal by Louisiana's Benjamin Rubin at 2:51 in the third period. Mississippi RiverKings tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Harrington at 10:11 in the third period.

Harrington had one goal and one assist to lead Mississippi RiverKings.

The 44 shots that Mississippi RiverKings put on net surpassed Mississippi RiverKings' average of 31.3 shots per game this season.

Mississippi RiverKings was led by Harrington, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Mississippi RiverKings also got points from Leo Thomas, who also registered one goal and one assist. Mississippi RiverKings also got a goal from Linden Bahm as well. More assists for Mississippi RiverKings came via Paul Ciarelli, Mike Hayward, and Sean Jones, who contributed one each.

The IceGators' offense was clicking better than usual and put 28 shots on goal during the game, better than the 23.1 shots per game they average.

Louisiana was led by Jason Cohen, who racked up one goal and one assist. Cohen scored 5:02 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Adam Stuart provided the assist. Shawn Skelly also scored for Louisiana. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Luke Kasteel, Jake Hauswirth, and Chris Wilson, who each chipped in one.

Peter Di Salvo made 25 saves for Mississippi RiverKings on 28 shots. Mississippi RiverKings totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Marco De Filippo rejected 40 shots on goal for the IceGators. Louisiana incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
