Huge game by Pawlick boosts Pensacola over Louisiana, 7-3

The Pensacola Ice Flyers' Adam Pawlick had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 7-3 win over the Louisiana IceGators.

Pawlick scored on the power play at 3:24 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 12:11 into the first to make the score 2-1 Pensacola.

Pensacola racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and two majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. The Ice Flyers had been averaging 15.0 minutes in penalties per game. Pensacola found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Ice Flyers average 3.6 goals per game. Pensacola relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Pawlick, Nick McParland and Michael Budd took 14 of the team's 24 shots.

Pensacola also got points from Brett Lutes, who also tallied one goal and one assist and McParland, who also registered two goals and two assists. Pensacola also had goals scored by Nick Lazorko and Cody Ferriero, who scored one goal each. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Drew Baker, who had one.

Louisiana forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and two majors for 48 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 20.0 minutes per game the IceGators had been spending in the box.

Louisiana was helped by Benjamin Rubin, who racked up one goal. Rubin scored on the power play 7:32 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Pensacola. A slashing penalty on Joe Bueltel had put the IceGators on the power play. Chris Wilson assisted on the tally. Louisiana additionally got points from Jake Hauswirth, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Luke Kasteel also scored for Louisiana. More assists for Louisiana came via Shawn McNeil, Jason Cohen, and Kirk Byczynski, who contributed one each.

Matt Zenzola made 21 saves for the Ice Flyers on 24 shots. Pensacola registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. Louisiana's starting goalie, Andrew Flemming, made 10 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Marco De Filippo, who stopped seven shots. The IceGators registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For Louisiana, Tom Silber was ejected from the game.
