Huge game by Banfield boosts Pensacola over Fayetteville, 5-2Pensacola Bay Center Sat, Dec 20, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Corey Banfield was all over the ice for the Pensacola Ice Flyers, as he tallied one goal and two assists in Pensacola's 5-2 win over the Fayetteville FireAntz. Banfield got on the board by slotting home a goal 8:30 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Pensacola. Cody Ferriero assisted on the tally. Banfield dished an assist on Adam Pawlick's goal that made the score 4-0 Pensacola at 12:11 into the second period. He added another helper on Ferriero's goal that made the score 5-2 Pensacola at 17:07 into the second period.The Ice Flyers kept Fayetteville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kevin Murdock made 27 saves on 44 shots. Pensacola additionally got points from Brett Lutes, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Ferriero, who also had one goal and one assist, and Pawlick, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Nick McParland also scored for Pensacola. More assists for Pensacola came via Keegan Flaherty, Nick Lazorko, Justin Fillion, Steve Bergin, and Brandon Blair, who contributed one each. The FireAntz were led by Randy Cameron, who registered one goal. Cameron scored 13:26 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Pensacola. Matt Robertson provided the assist. Fayetteville also got a goal from John Clewlow as well. In addition, Fayetteville received assists from Kyle McNeil, Zach Carriveau, and Chad Hohmann, who each chipped in one. Pensacola's Max Strang stopped 21 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Ice Flyers totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Fayetteville totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
